OUR LOCATION

Garver Feed Mill

Over five years after our first meeting with the developers, our scoop shop and small production facility opened at Garver Feed Mill on the east side of Madison in 2019. Garver Feed Mill is an iconic turn-of-the-century building on the Capital City Trail, directly behind Olbrich Botanical Garden. ​Look for us inside the Ian’s Pizza there, where we’ll have our 7 original flavors and up to four rotating flavors that we’ll make on-site based on what’s in season, what sounds interesting, how the planets are aligned, and who wants to collaborate with us.

As of August 12, 2025:  Our four house-made, small-batch flavors in the rotating ice cream window are:

Tomato Ice Cream; Strawberry Coffee Ice Cream; Mango Chamoy Sorbet; Negroni Ice Cream.

OUR STORY & OUR MISSION

How it all stared and what we hold close

It started in 2011 with Jason making ice cream in the basement at the Weary Traveler Freehouse in Madison. Staci and Marty joined in soon after and Calliope was born. Jason left the company in January 2015 to focus on his career, while Staci and Marty continue to introduce Calliope to many, many people who just were not expecting spicy ice cream. In July of 2019 we opened our first scoop shop within an Ian’s Pizza at the Garver Feed Mill.

Calliope Ice Cream develops, discovers, and explores all the awesome flavor combinations that exist outside of the traditional ice cream box, conjuring fond memories through flavor and using the highest quality ingredients available. We are inventive, innovative, and creative and strive to have a good time while we work hard.
